Midrand Police Station officers arrested one of six suspects who allegedly took part in an attempted business robbery on 24 January.
The incident took place at a President Park business at about 1am. The spokesperson for the Midrand police, Sergeant Matome Tlamela said a security guard was on duty at the business when six suspects forcefully opened the guard room door.
The armed suspects held up the security guard who managed to pull out his own firearm and shot one suspect in the upper and lower body. The suspects returned fire and shot him in his right thigh before hitting him on the forehead with a crowbar. Five suspects fled the scene.
The wounded suspect and the security guard were found by the officers and rushed to Tembisa Hospital by emergency services. Tlamela said the injured suspect was arrested and an investigation to find the other five suspects was still ongoing.
