Preliminary work done to Rudi Neitz Street in Vorna Valley

VORNA VALLEY – The Johannesburg Roads Agency has done preliminary work to Rudi Neitz Street.

The section of Rudi Neitz Street in Vorna Valley has been patched up by Johannesburg Road Agency awaiting further work.

The terrible state of the road was reported on in the Midrand Reporter article, JRA Awaits approval to work on road [Week ending 6 March]. The road had previously been visited by Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe and managing director of the Johannesburg Road Agency Siya Nodu last year.

Deppe said she believed that the issues stemmed from underground water below the road and that the road has been patched up numerous times with the issues continuing.

Nodu confirmed that an investigation of the road is still needed and the recent work is a preliminary fix until their budget has been confirmed to do a full servicing on that section of the road.

He added that they will be doing another inspection on the road to complete the necessary work.

Deppe expressed frustration at the constant escalation of issues surrounding the road work in her ward and complained that the consistent back and forth over a year should not happen. “The JRA should stay out of politics and just do their work. Leaders come and go, but the workers stay.”
