Members of the Rabie Ridge Police Station, with the help of an ex-convict and motivational speaker Juluka Baloyi, conducted a school talk based on the consequences of committing a crime.
The talk was hosted at the Maputha Secondary School in Mayibuye on 10 March.
Spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo said the event was supported by the sector managers, social crime prevention coordinator and the Department of Community Safety. They addressed learners from grades 8 to 11.
Bullying was one of the concerns they particularly addressed with the learners.

Nhlongo cautioned, “The tendency of kids disappearing without reporting to their parents where they are should stop as many kids become falsely reported as missing.”
Other topics included drug use, bringing weapons to school, gangsterism and the need to wear proper school uniform.
“When Juluka shared his story of being jailed, it touched the learners and some of them started crying and vowed to not do wrong things at school or at home.”
