Rabie Ridge police arrested a suspect for the possession of stolen property after receiving a tip-off from an anonymous caller.
According to the station’s spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo, on 13 March a caller reported that they saw a car dropping off tower batteries in Kanana Ext 4.
“Upon arrival, police found a woman in her 30s, matching the description from the anonymous caller. The suspect was then asked permission to search her property. While police were searching they found more than 10 tower batteries from different network providers.
“The suspect was asked to explain how the batteries ended up in her hands and when she failed, she was detained at the Rabie Ridge Police Station.”
Sector manager for Kanana Ext 4 Sergeant Eddie Ngwago Selotola, thanked the community for continuing to work with the police. “Community members should know that their identities will be kept safe with the police. Should anyone give us any kind of information relating to the wrong things being done in our community that a person’s identity will not be revealed.”
Nhlongo said the suspect would appear at the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon.
