Over 40 Midrand Police Station officers are promoted

MIDRAND – Brigadier David Tsotsotso urged the promoted officers to 'seek discipline, accountability and be responsible at all times'.

Midrand Police Station hosted a memorable ceremony for many as they celebrated newly-promoted sergeants and warrant officers.

The station management promoted 42 police officers from constables and sergeants to sergeants and warrant officers respectively.

Midrand Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso, reminded the promoted members of their responsibilities which includes supervision and honesty towards execution of their tasks in the service. “For an officer to be promoted they need to work hard to prevent crimes and serve the community with pride and be disciplined, and you did just that.

“You must must lead the juniors and teach them about policing. Seek discipline, accountability and be responsible at all times.”

One of the officers who was promoted to sergeant, Enock Mnisi said he has been waiting a long time for this moment. “I feel very happy, I have waited for this moment since 2008.

“This encourages us to work harder and to be positive at all times, because it is not easy to wait a whole decade not knowing when it will ever come.”

Mnisi encouraged the junior officers to pay their dues and do their bit in order to attain the same honours. “With this I also encourage others to remain positive and be patient, it will come to them at their own time.”

He concluded, “Once you become a sergeant, you are in a management position, you have to supervise all the juniors and constables, the officers [above the sergeant rank] will be looking upon you to see what you were taught in the previous decade. You are able to pass on to the younger generations and, in turn, it shapes you and them further for life in this line of service.”
