MIDRAND – The Midrand SPCA received a special doantion of masks and sanitiser.

Metro police K9 instructor superintendent Peter September gave back by donating face masks and santiser to the Midrand SPCA.

The Midrand SPCA is still operational during the coronavirus lockdown and has been doing inspections in the field. The organisation called for support from the local community to assist during this time.

Superintendent Peter September, who works as an K9 instructor for Metro police, said that when their call for assistance was announced, he immediately approached Shadow MMC for Public Safety Michael Sun for a way forward to assist the organisation.

With Sun’s help, September was able to collect 200 masks and two bottles of sanitiser that were handed over to the SPCA.

General manager of the Midrand SPCA, Pam Pretorius, said, “Thank you to Peter September who in his personal capacity arranged disposable masks and sanitiser.”

He said, “The organisation does so much important work, without them there will be a lot of animals without food or shelter. So assisting them with masks and sanitiser is extremely important.”

Sun added, “When I received a message from Superintendent Peter September of Metro Police K9 to help out SPCA in Midrand, I knew I had to do something.”

“The SPCA does a marvellous but thankless job for the abandoned and distressed animals, I was able to put a pack of 200 masks donated to me by Chen Long of Africa Steel Tube and sanitisers from Elton Chin to give Superintendent September to hand over to Midrand SPCA.”
