WATCH: Grade 1 learner at Christ Church Preparatory starts fitness challenge
MIDRAND – Grade 1 learner Emmanuel Zhou was inspired by his dad to start the fitness challenge.
An enthusiastic Grade 1 learner at Christ Church Preparatory School and College is challenging his classmates to demonstrate their fitness during lockdown.
Emmanual Zhou in Grade 1P submitted a video of himself doing push-ups and star jumps before challenging his friend Bontle to do the same.
Emmanual saw his dad, Simanga Zhou, competing in the ‘Post Traumatic Stress Wariness Challenge’ and was inspired to begin his own challenge.
The challenge is currently doing the rounds on social media.
Simanga said, “I have been participating in a 25 push-ups a day challenge for PTSD awareness and Emmanuel has been interested in it and has been doing some home exercises with me.
“I encouraged him to start something similar with his friends at school and he came up with it and asked me to record him and send it to his class, and Bontle, to be next and so on. We are actually hoping to see other kids follow suit.”
Marketing manager at Christ Church Preparatory School and College Dawn Schmitz explained that this activity is not a requirement of the school, but rather a fun inter-friend challenge.
