Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge to experience load-reduction tonight

IVORY PARK – Eskom will be implementing load-reduction to avoid network overloading in high-density areas that are prone to illegal connections, meter bypasses and vandalism of electricity infrastructure.

Eskom will be implementing load-reduction today, 8 July from 5pm until 10pm.

Eskom spokesperson Ronel Kotze said the implementation of load-reduction aims to avoid network overloading in high-density areas that are prone to illegal connections, meter bypasses and vandalism of electricity infrastructure.

The affected areas will be Ivory Park Ext 6, 7A and B, Ext 8 and 10, Kaalfontein Ext 7, Lindokuhle Extension 2, Tswelopele Ext 1 and Rabie Ridge.

“During the load-reduction implementation, customers are urged to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid power surges when power returns,” said Kotze, adding that failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damages to household appliances when supply is restored.

Customers are urged not to log a fault during this period.
