Police investigating armed robbery in Carlswald

CARLSWALD – A driver of a delivery vehicle was assaulted by two suspects.

Midrand police are investigating an armed robbery which took place in Carlswald on 29 June.

According to Midrand Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the victim was driving a delivery vehicle and stopped at an address in Eastbourne Avenue, Carlswald, to make a delivery.

“Suddenly, he heard the loud sound of cars stopping behind him and got out to investigate,” said Tlamela.

The victim said there were four cars, including a white Nissan Impendulo, a black Volkswagen GTI and two other sedans.

Tlamela said that two men with handguns got out of the Nissan and came to the victim, assaulting him with bare hands. The suspects then demanded that the crew open the rear safe, which he did.

She added that the suspects stole all the stock from the car including cell phones, clothes and more. The value of the items is unknown.

Tlamela said that no shots were fired and there were no visible injuries. The trio task team has been informed of this incident.
