ICYMI: NPO cares for the disabled people in Ivory Park
IVORY PARK – A local NPO which cares for the disabled is in need of the community's assistance to survive the pandemic.
The Love Of God Disability Foundation is calling on Midrand residents to assist them through the Covid-19 pandemic.
The non-profit organisation, which is based in Ivory Park, was founded in 2015 and cares for the disabled. The foundation provides counselling, spiritual empowerment, inspiration, and motivation in the form of activities among other things at their centre.
Mzwakhe Mofolo, an organiser for the foundation, said that part of the organisation’s duties is to provide wellness support programmes which includes healthy nutrition, physical well-being, sport, and mind games whilst also mainly focusing on reading, writing, communication skills and problem solving techniques.
Mofolo explained, “Because Ivory Park was home to many people living with a disability and senior citizens, we the youth and adults voluntarily decided to go around looking for those we can help.
“With the community’s support we can improve our service delivery to our community.”
Mofolo added, “Currently the help we need is food donations, office materials, shelter or building containers, kitchen materials, toys, wheelchairs for kids and adults, gardening tools, sewing material and beads, sleeping and blankets, vehicles for transportation, stationery, cleaning material, first aid kit, clothes for kids and adults, tables and chairs for adults an children, training equipment and nappies for kids and adults.”
Mofolo concluded by asking businesses to assist their organisation to help ease the burden of expenses and needed resources.
