Phase one of new park in Carlswald is complete

CARLSWALD – There is now palisade fencing and a playground.

The Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo is happy to announce the completion on the first phase of the newly established Park 1415 in Carlswald.

Region A manager Joseph Ndou said that the park’s first phase been completed and the department is happy with the results. The project began in early June with the 6th Street park receiving bins, palisade fencing, signage and newly planted Celtis Africana trees, as reported in Work begins on Park 1415 in Carlswald [Week ending 19 June].

The installation of the palisade fencing followed strict Covid-19 regulations. City Parks also installed new gym equipment, a roundabout and swings. Ndou said that the project aims to strengthen community ties, improve property values and give children in the suburb a safe area to play.

He added that City Parks has confirmed that they will be installing four new braais in the park along with additional playground equipment by the end of September.Phase two will include the regrassing of the park and the installation of a new walkway and braais for the local community.
