Two suspects were arrested on 7 August for attempted house breaking and theft in Halfway Gardens after giving a local security company the runaround.
According to Danny Maduray, CEO of Ria Sebetsa Security, at approximately 8:51am their control room received a perimeter breach notification from one of their sites.
“Our 24-hour reaction units were dispatched immediately. Whilst our response units were fast approaching, our control room received information from a security officer on-site stating that there are suspects attempting to gain access into Halfway Gardens.
“The suspects saw our vehicles fast approaching and fled. One suspect ran towards a nearby filling station and the second suspect ran and jumped into a neighbouring school.”
Maduray added that a foot chase ensued which led to the first suspect being apprehended at the nearby filling station, whilst the other was apprehended by their reaction team who surrounded the school.
“Due to the swift response from our team, the suspects were not given the time of day to commit any criminal offence inside the property besides breaching the perimeter,” said Maduray. “Special thanks to Midrand SAPS for quick response and assistance in arresting suspects.”
Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, confirmed that the two suspects were arrested for attempted house breaking and theft. “One suspect was found in possession of pliers and a flood light used to cover the boundary area.”
Tlamela said that the two suspects are expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court soon.
