Ivory Park Library gets a new lease on life
IVORY PARK – Mfudumalo Foundation, with the help of PNA, Siyafunda and Mall of Africa opened doors to the newly revamped Mfudumalo Library in Ivory Park.
The Ivory Park Library has received a new lease on life thanks to some generous organisations.
Midrand-based non-profit organisation, Mfudumalo Foundation along with the Mall of Africa, Siyafunda SA, and PNA launched the Mfudumalo Library on 24 October in Ivory Park.
The four stakeholders, led by the Mfudumalo Foundation, revamped the old Ivory Park Library which was situated at the Ivory Park Hall, renaming it the Mfudumalo Library.
Public relations for Mfudumalo Foundation, Tiyani Makamu explained that the refurbishment and relaunch came as part of their mission at the foundation to foster knowledgeable communities.
“Our belief is that brilliance begins in a book and upholding the credo that a reading nation is a leading nation.”
Makamu added that the library will serve as a serene environment for individuals and groups who seek a place of study, or simply to get lost in between the pages of books.
“Fuelled by the passion and determination to realise the foundation’s vision, we came together to ensure that the environment is a conducive space and is packed with publications and books to fulfil its function,” concluded Makamu.
Siyafunda Donate-A-Book who are literacy advocates ensuring schools have access to information resources, mainly focusing in rural areas, did their part and donated books to the Mfudumalo Library.
Katiso Mofokeng of Siyafunda said that they would like the books to simply be read. “Read, read and read. The library must ensure that the community has access to the books. Most importantly, we would love to see children have access to the library.”
The Mfudumalo Library is now open to the public.
