Covid-19: NICD identifies 1 372 new coronavirus cases
There are currently, as of 8 November, 37 781 active cases of Covid-19 in South Africa.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in South Africa is 737 278.
Of these 737 278 cases, 1 372 were confirmed on 8 November. The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 980 440 with 17 266 new tests conducted since the last report.
The department reported that there were an additional 20 Covid-19 related deaths. Nineteen of these deaths occurred in the Eastern Cape and one from Gauteng, This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 19 809.
The number of recoveries now stands at 679 688 which translates to a recovery rate of 92 per cent.
The Free State currently has the highest number of active cases with 10 499 cases. Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal both have just over 5 000 active cases. The Western Cape has 4 480 active cases while all other provinces have fewer than 4 000 active cases.
In total, there are 37 781 active cases in South Africa.
