Midrand police arrest duo with illegal firearms

PRESIDENT PARK – The Midrand police arrested three suspects for the possession of an illegal firearm.

The Midrand police arrested three suspects for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition in President Park on 26 October.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Constable Elliot Mabulane said the arrest took place at 2pm on Alsatian Road in President Park when two patrolling officers, Sergeant Tsundzuka Abel Maluleke and Constable Gerald Bokamoso noticed a suspicious white Kia Rio. The motor vehicle didn’t have a licence plate and the officers stopped to search the vehicle and its three male occupants.

During their search they discovered one pistol and one revolver.

The three 25-year-old suspects were arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, and were detained at the Midrand Police Station.

Mabulane added that the police are investigating the illegal firearms to ascertain whether or not they were used in any crimes.

Mabulane concluded, “The Midrand police applaud the two officers for being so vigilant and dedicated to their job.”
