Police arrest suspect in Halfway House for drug possession

MIDRAND – Midrand police arrested a suspect with R2 500 worth of crystal meth in Halfway House.

Midrand police arrested a suspect for possession of numerous illegal substances in Halfway House on 28 October.

Spokesperson for the Midrand police Sergeant Matome Tlamela said the arrest occurred at about 9.30am while officers were patrolling the area.

Tlamela added that the officers spotted suspicious activity along Old Pretoria Road where two men were exchanging an unidentified package. The officers approached the suspect handing over the package and introduced themselves as members of the Midrand police.

The officers searched the suspect and found nine small ziplock bags of marijuana to the value of R1 000, and

R2 500 worth of crystal meth.

The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Midrand Police Station. He was charged for possession of an illegal substance.
