New Life Centre For Girls postpones fundraiser
GLEN AUSTIN – The New Life Centre For Girls invites Midranders to their fundraiser at the Ndu Car wash on Saturday.
The New Life Centre For Girls has postponed their fundraiser campaign to 12 December after being unable to proceed on 5 December due to bad weather conditions.
Khopotso Nakin, director for the centre further extended her invite to Midrand residents and businesses to support their initiative. She said members of the organisation’s board would be present on the day of the event in support of the initiative.
As published in Support New Life’s fundraising [Week ending 4 December], Nakin said the board decided to start with a car wash to fundraise. She added that the event would still take place at the Ndu Car Wash located on the corner of Smuts Drive and 3rd Road in Halfway Gardens in Midrand.
“We have been allowed to use the venue again, so we encourage all residents and businesses to come and support the initiative. All proceeds towards the car wash will be given to the centre, which is their way of helping us as well.
“We would also like to encourage community members to bring donations of food, old usable clothes and toiletries on the day,” Nakin added.
She said although washing cars would not bring in a lot of proceeds, they appealed to businesses and residents to donate as well because they have not been able to pay their care workers or for the upkeep of the house the children lived in.
“We do not have a limit as to how much we need at this moment because we are pretty much at a disadvantage right now.
“Our roof is leaking, our children do not have a proper vehicle to take them to school, and we are behind on electricity, rent and our water bill as well as staff payments.
“Which is why we would like to further reach out to businesses to donate a bus for our kids to go to school with and to help with the renovations of the house, cutting of grass in the yard or donations of lawnmowers, controlling of rodents in the yard and to help us pay our staff as well.”
Nakin concluded that all Covid-19 protocols would be observed at the fundraiser and people should come with their masks.
