Ward 79 Councilor wishes residents a prosperous new year ahead
IVORY PARK – Ward 79 Councilor Maluleka urges the community to take care of themselves and their families this festive season since the virus is still with us.
As we end off the year Ward 79 councillor Thompson Maluleka takes a look back at the year and shares some of his hopes for the new year ahead.
Maluleka said the year had been a difficult one since the country experienced Covid-19. “This virus has been a lesson to most of our communities, more especially when it comes to work related issues, as many of our people lost their jobs and could not manage families except to rely on the government to provide, and the demand has been too high since our wards are over populated. However, social development has tried its best to assist most needy families,” added Maluleka.
He added that the demand on electricity had risen because everybody was at home throughout the lockdown. “As usual, it became a blackout in most parts of our ward with 13 transformers burned out and some of them were only fixed six months later.”
The councillor extended his festive wishes to the community. “I would like to plead with the community to take care of themselves and their families this festive season since the virus is still with and we need to avoid the second wave. Let’s make sure that our homes are safe when we go for holidays and continue to observe regulations all the times.
“I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year ahead.”
