Councilor Lamola is excited for the new year
RABIE RIDGE – Ward 110 councillor Lamola advises residents to stay safe during the festive season.
Lesibana Lamola, councillor for Ward 110 in Rabie Ridge expressed his wishes for the new year, while also reflecting on the current year.
Lamola said his ward was for all people and should be celebrated as such.
He added that 2020 had been a year of a mixture of many things. “We started well with good meetings, both public and ward committee meetings. By the time the month of March came, all started to go downhill when Covid-19 forced us into a hard lockdown.
“Many things stopped and everybody was forced to stay at home. Community projects were forced to stop, nothing was happening. It was only in Level 1 that things started to move. Our projects for upgrading roads in Mayibuye resumed and it is now running,” he said.
Lamola added that he was hoping that there would be no problems going forward. “We hope that no project will be stopped. Development is what we want in the ward. What makes us happy is that people appreciate the developments taking place.
“Furthermore, Christmas is coming and people need to take care of themselves. This is the time when criminals take advantage.”
Lamola concluded that he hoped to get to see more community members in the new year. “I am hoping to see each and everyone in the beginning of 2021. Let it be a year of hope, a year of events and a year of fair local government elections.”
