Local church helps to clean thousands of public spaces

MIDRAND – The Church of Scientology shares their experiences and achievements combating the Covid-19 pandemic in Midrand.

The Church of Scientology in South Africa non-profit corporation (NPC) shared their achievements in combating Covid-19 during the pandemic.

The Midrand-based organisation’s volunteer ministers educated others about Covid-19 and sanitised buildings in the area. Spokesperson of the organisation Sandile Hlayisi said that over the past year, 45 799 buildings have been sanitised across the area, 1.1 million vehicles have been sanitised, 300 partnerships have been created with government offices, municipalities and other religious groups, and thousand have been reached for education on keeping safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

President of the organisation Gaetene Asselin said, “We have many reasons to be proud of our accomplishments. To know that we were available at all times of day for our country and its citizens was very important to us. We considered it both our duty and pleasure to be able to assist. The smile and peace of mind of people after we assisted them were our ‘pay’ and it was gratifying.”

Asselin added, “When people from other groups started to join us because they too wanted to assist, that was really fantastic. They too had a taste of what it means to help one’s fellow man for no money. It is just a different but very rewarding experience.”

President Asselin concluded that the Scientology Volunteer Ministers learned a lot in 2020 about helping others and have already started taking over 2021 to ensure safety for as many people as possible.
