ICYMI: Acts of love for treasured healthcare workers

MIDRAND – Local organisation Acts of Love spread the love with local healthcare workers.

Local charity organisation Acts of Love gave back to healthcare workers in Midrand by handing out special gift boxes on 20 and 21 January.

Member of the organisation Pastor Peter De Fin said, “The coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the world has brought with it much devastation and loss. No one understands that more than our front-line workers as they labour tirelessly in our healthcare system to save lives. This is why Acts of Love put together a special gift box to honour our local healthcare heroes.”

The items for the boxes were collected by members of Acts Christian Church in Midrand which included a luxury set of bath products, hand cream, lip balm, wet wipes, sanitiser, energy bars and energy sachets.

The church put together 500 boxes which were distributed to healthcare workers who work in Covid-19 dedicated wards at Tembisa Provincial Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital, Life Carstenhof Hospital and Netcare Waterfall City Hospital.

De Fin added, “We wanted to show, in a practical way, love, appreciation and gratitude to our front-line workers for their incredible commitment and sacrifice as they serve humanity.

“The public benefit organisation hopes that these gifts will serve to encourage, inspire and bring hope to our healthcare workers in these trying times.”

“He concluded, “They are also running a meal support programme providing hot nutritious meals for Covid-19 sufferers in Midrand who do not have families to assist.”
