A courier van was robbed of its cargo on 26 January in Vorna Valley while making deliveries around the area.
Constable Eliot Mabulane, spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, confirmed that the incident took place between 9am and 9.15am while the courier driver and his crew were on duty delivering parcels.
“As they got to the next address where they were supposed to deliver, a white Mercedes Benz, followed by another white vehicle, a white Toyota Etios, blocked their van. “The driver was ordered to offload the parcels with blue stickers and place them inside the Etios while being pointed at with a firearm during the course of the incident.
“The victims alleged that the Etios left after it was loaded with the parcels, until they loaded the [remaining] parcels inside the Mercedes Benz and drove off.” Mabulane concluded that a docket of armed robbery has been opened and investigations into the incident will continue.
