Join Botshabelo’s LovE-Run on Valentine’s Day
BLUE HILLS – Botshabelo are inviting the community to take part in their LovE-Run on Valentine's Day.
Botshabelo invites the local community to take part in their annual LovE-Run on Valentine’s Day.
Fundraiser for the organisation Maja Muench said, “Even almost one year after the lockdown began, the pandemic is still affecting our everyday life. South Africa is still dealing with the outbreak and its economic aftermath.
“Over the last year, NPOs learned to get quite creative and flexible in their missions as well as their fundraising.”
Muench added that Botshabelo was trying to add events onto their calendar to help raise funds. This Valentine’s Day, the charity which has a babies home, teacher training programme as well as a preschool for underprivileged children, is hosting the LovE-Run. People who love to empower women and children are encouraged to help raise funds by entering the event and choose between a 21km run or 21-minute run/walk.
The profits of the event will go directly to the programmes supporting the children and women who the organisation serves.
Director of fundraising Jessica Smith said, “Last year we had the e-run in April – our first online event ever. It was a huge success and fun. “This year we want to combine it with the day of love and show our community how grateful we are for their support and encouragement.”
She added that the past year had been pretty tough on all their programmes due to the challenges put on their fundraising. “This year we already feel the aftermath through funds that are cut. And honestly speaking, with the continuous uncertainty we have to remain flexible and interesting.
“We are still not sure if our sport events such as our golf day can take place this year. But what we do know is that people love Valentine’s Day and the joy that comes with it. So why not gather together, online of course with family and friends, and spend this day making a difference in a child’s or woman’s life.”
The organisation will host the LovE-Run on 14 February which will be open to everyone. Interested residents can contact the organisation at office@botshabelo.co.za for entry details.
