Hard at work to beautify the Midrand community

VORNA VALLEY – The Nermai Foundation gives Vorna Valley streets a good clean up.

Local non-profit organisation The Nermai Foundation has been doing clean-ups throughout this year to beautify the Midrand area.

Recently, the foundation took to the streets of Vorna Valley to clean up the litter. Spokesperson for the foundation Jacqui von Loggerenberg said, “The Nermai Foundation is all about changing the way people live in their communities, communities that provide safety, employment, support and resilience. We believe that safe communities are happy communities. Clean communities are safer communities.”

She added that their initiative aimed to create debris- and sand-free roads which would be safer to drive on, and a reduction in blocked stormwater drains and rivers which increased flooding in the area. Von Loggerenberg said their aim was also to beautify the area.

“We plant trees and vegetable gardens which serves a dual purpose of beautifying the area and reducing soil erosion, which in turn reduces issues on roads.”
