Summerhill International College Midrand learners celebrated Anti-Bullying Week from 17 to 21 May by coming together to practise friendliness and working together.
Derrick Pötscher, focus week coordinator, said that during the course of the week, senior and junior learners completed activities touching on bullying while also spreading awareness on the effects that words can have on another person. “The junior students completed a colouring-in activity with hints on how to deal with bullies or how to avoid conflict in everyday situations,” he explained.
“The seniors completed an activity on dealing with the effects of our words and the kind of impact they may have on other people’s self-esteem or image and how we can be more aware of what we say.”
Pötscher thanked all teachers and learners who participated in bringing awareness to this focus week.
