Seven detained for Noordwyk murder

MIDRAND – Seven suspects were arrested for murder at around 11pm on 26 May at a construction site on Corner Lever and 9th Road in Noordwyk, Midrand.


Seven suspects were arrested for allegedly committing murder on 26 May at a construction site in Noordwyk.

According to the Midrand Police Station spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane, one male was murdered in Noordwyk and seven suspects were alleged to have been involved in his murder.

Mabulane explained that the police have detained the seven suspects in connection with the murder.

“The motive for the murder is unknown, however, the suspects and victim are known to have been staying at an [informal settlement] nearby the site,” he added.

Mabulane concluded that the suspects were due to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to answer to the allegations against them.

Brigadier David Tsotsotso, Station Commander for the Midrand Police Station, condemned the murder and said that such instances where a life is lost are unacceptable. “I urge community members to have value for life and report any acts that infringe the human rights of others as well as theirs.”
