Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a veld on Old Pretoria Road on July 2 with two bullet wounds to her upper body.
According to Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Constable Eliot Mabulane, the woman’s body was discovered by a pedestrian who immediately alerted the police.
Mabulane said her body was found near the Jukskei River and was dressed in a blue T-shirt and was naked from the waist down.
“The motive of the killing and suspects involved are still to be identified through investigation,” he added.
Midrand Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso condemned the act of which women continued to be victims of gender-based violence.
He further appealed that the community come forward with any information about the crime.
“We cry out loud to our community to assist us by [speaking] out on gender-based violence on women and children. No woman deserves to die like this,” Tsotsotso concluded.
