Local economic development organisation condemns looting
MIDRAND – Lisa Tele, secretary-general of the Midrand Local Economic Empowerment said that damage to infrastructure and property will not lead to solutions, especially that of building the economy.
Non-governmental organisation, Midrand Local Economic Empowerment has condemned the looting of businesses.
In a press statement released by the organisation on July 13, secretary-general Lisa Tele said while the country was dealing with many issues, it was a regress in economic development to destroy shops and businesses.
Tele added that the small, micro and medium enterprises suffered the most due to looting.
“Damage to infrastructure and property will not lead to solutions, especially that of building the economy. As a nation, we can express ourselves in a manner that builds and develops. It will take time to recover from the looting of businesses,” she added.
“Economic development and food security is very crucial during this time of fighting a global pandemic. Job security is key to the majority of blacks and unemployed youth. Let us be united in building, developing and preserving a good legacy.”
