Local companies come together to help Said
KYALAMI – Decproducts with the support of other companies, Dixon Batteries, AST Engineering and MM Upholstery donated a golf cart to the Society for Animals in Distress.
The Society for Animals in Distress is grateful to local businesses who donated a golf cart for their golf day.
Decproducts with the support of Dixon Batteries, AST Engineering and MM Upholstery helped with the donation.
According to Stephen Bekker, owner and manager for Decproducts, the donation was vital as it was important for himself and those around him to not only donate where they could but also to help as much as possible.
Bekker added that if everyone did a small part, the cumulative effect would be massive. “We feel that our actions to all kinds of problems whether it be animals, people or nature, we can and must do our part to help. We cannot just wait for businesses to help and donate, we must all do out part no matter how big or small. It makes a difference. There is always someone or a creature worse off than ourselves.”
Karin Demir, business engagement for the Society for Animals in Distress (Said), welcomed the sponsors, adding that the generous donation came at a pressing time. “A growing number of people in communities where Said operates are battling with job losses. The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered a series of dramatic social changes, leaving thousands of exposed, hungry, unsterilised and untreated animals. Community health is at risk too.”

Demir added that Decproducts’ donation of the E-Z-GO golf cart for the fundraising raffle would assist the exorbitant costs in difficult financial circumstances for Said veterinary teams on the frontline to provide more treatment and save lives of more adversely affected animals. “Bekker and his wife Anne Bekker, family, and business partner’s active involvement in support of animal welfare work has not just touched our lives but has changed the lives of so many animals forever.”
Demir concluded that they were profoundly grateful for community partners who can assist during Mandela Month by any form of donations such as dog and cat food, leashes, blankets and horse equipment. You can also stand a change to win the society’s raffle. Tickets cost R100 and are available at https://animalsindistress.org.za/said-raffle-21/
