Young riders place third in competition
BEAULIEU – Kim Hughes of Beaulieu College applauded and congratulated riders at the school for their efforts in recent shows to place as the number one Sanesa Johannesburg District School.
A local school reached top ranks as the South African Nation Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Johannesburg District School after a long run of top performances.
Beaulieu College recently took part in the regional Gauteng finals in which they placed third in the competition.
Head of the school’s equestrian department, Kim Hughes, congratulated all riders at the school for their hard work in recent competitions. “While I was unable to watch our students this year, I applaud and thank them [the riders] and each rider’s team of parents, coaches and grooms for all the hours of practice before each event.”
She mentioned that the Covid-19 pandemic in the country did play a part in riders not having a chance to take part in competitions, but was still grateful to have taken part in shows.
“Covid did interfere with many riders’ training schedules as not all the competitions were able to be hosted and there were a number of overlapping events but generally all in all we were able at least to compete,” Hughes added.
She concluded that the school also runs an academy for students who have completed school and want to become qualified in horsemanship or coaches.
