Suspects arrested on their way to commit a crime

MIDRAND – The three arrested suspects will soon appear at the Alexandra Magistrate's Court for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Three suspects were recently arrested after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm on November 2 at Robin Avenue, Midrand.

Spokesperson of the Midrand Police Station, Constable Eliot Mabulane, said that the arrest took place around 14:30. The police received a tip-off, claiming that the suspects were on a mission to go commit housebreaking and robbery.

“These suspects were driving a white Kia Picanto when they were arrested. The police followed their tracks and disrupted their mission before arresting them.”

Mabulane added that the suspects would appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court soon. The Station Commander for the Midrand Police Station, Brigadier David Tsotsotso, commended the police for their good work.

He said that one firearm removed from the street meant less crime would be committed, lives and property saved. Tsotsotso also mentioned that more arrests relating to the recovery of firearms would follow suit as we were approaching the festive season.

“We cannot at all relax while the community is in danger, we will make sure that the Constitution is upheld by executing our mandate under Section 205 on the objectives of the South African Police Service by arresting perpetrators. We are working hard toward service delivery and to free Midrand from crime. We urge community members to keep up the good work in giving police information on any crime happening within the area.”

Tsotsotso concluded that any community members willing to become informants of the police should come forward and register. He added that rewards will be given to those individuals and their identity will not be exposed.
