Service to the community hampered by Covid
SAN RIDGE – The local medical centre recently celebrated its two-year milestone.
Curewise, a medical practice in San Ridge, which recently celebrated its second anniversary, wishes more dental services for schools were still possible.
General manager Gosego Kotu-Rammopo said, “One of the hurdles that our dentists have encountered with Covid-19 is that the centre’s plans for the school visits have had to be temporarily put on hold.”
The mostly female-doctor practice, started by Dr Ruth Rammopo, also offers free breast exams, education on vaccine schedules for children as per the government vaccination schedule, and general vaccination education for adults.
The centre also encourages adults to make sure their tetanus shots are up to date and take one every three to five years to prevent being infected as they are exposed to tetanus through pets, gardening and everyday work like construction.
To reassure anyone having anxiety about Covid-19, one of the centre’s medical professionals, Dr Sam Patterson said, “The complication that remains as a result of Covid-19 in some patients is pulmonary fibrosis, which is scarring of the lungs. Covid-19 hasn’t sparked the development of other illnesses nor does it make you vulnerable to anything. We have seen the impact of Covid with new-onset diabetes but again it’s more of an association.”
