IN TWEETS: EFF visits restaurants in Midrand to oversee labour policies

MIDRAND – EFF's Julius Malema says there should be a balance between foreign nationals and South Africans employed at restaurants.

Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, visited restaurants at a mall in Waterfall, Midrand demanding a meeting with the stakeholders.

Malema said he has scheduled a meeting with the restaurants on January 19, however, the one restaurant’s representative has repeatedly said they are not aware of this meeting. After much debate, the EFF met with the restaurant’s stakeholders and representatives.

In a series of videos on Twitter, Malema explained that the main reason for this meeting was to discuss the ratio of foreign nationals to South Africans employed by restaurants.  “All we want is South Africans and Africans to work together. There should be a balance,” he said.

Media was not allowed in the meeting and the party has not yet disclosed what had happened in the meeting.

The Midrand Reporter is currently trying to obtain comments from the relevant restaurants.
