In tribute: True pillar of the community, Takis, passes away
KYALAMI – The community is devasted to hear that a true community man has died.
The Kyalami community is reeling after learning the devasting news that, friend and community member, Takis Michalakis has passed away.
In a post by the Kyalami Neighbourhood group, it was stated that early this morning (February 2) Michalakis met up with friends and fellow Sector Community Forum (SCF) members for a morning cycle. It is alleged that he sadly collapsed from an apparent heart attack.
In the post from Anton van Niekerk (Sector 4 SCF), he said, “We were and are shattered and heartbroken. For many, many years Takis played a pivotal role not only in his local community but in the greater Midrand community.”

Michalakis wore many hats during his career in the community forums, such as vice-chairperson of the Midrand CPF as well as the chairperson of the Johannesburg North Cluster Community Police Board.
The Midrand Reporter has worked with Michalakis for many years and send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. To honour this true pillar of the community, send your tributes to the editor at ashtynm@caxton.co.za.
