Suspect caught shoplifting

HALFWAY HOUSE – The suspect stole two bucket hats and a pair of jeans all amounting to R1 048.

A female suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a local clothing store in a Halfway House mall.

According to Constable Eliot Mabulane, spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, on February 15 the suspect entered the store at about 16:10, took two bucket hats and a pair of jeans worth R1 048 and walked out without paying.

Mabulane said after the woman left the store, security officials ran after her, apprehended her and took her to Midrand Police Station where she was detained.

Mabulane concluded that the business watch team of the police were focused on curbing shoplifting, and arresting suspects would hopefully serve as a deterrence.

Details: Midrand Police Station 011 347 1600.
