Midrand Cricket Club highlights their successes

HALFWAY HOUSE – The team saw progress from individual players and wins in all their teams.

Midrand Cricket Club recently saw progress in both juniors and seniors leagues.

The local cricket club’s success has not only been about winning league matches in the recent weekend games, but rather, it has filtered into the individual mindsets of the players as more and more of them have begun performing individually.

According to player-coach George Mukoki, the bowling unit has always been the pillar of Midrand Cricket Club.

Mukoki said that bowling individual performances of note have so far been Abhinav Goel, who has the current best bowling figures of the running season with 5 wickets for 3 runs in his 8 overs for the Midrand Promotional outfit.

“Muhammad Vahed set the standard for the U12 side with his 5 wickets for 20 runs in his 5 overs, taking the man of the match award against Actionville U12 in the Sun League.

“Watville Cricket Club was also at the receiving end as Midrand Cricket Club opening strike bowler Thando Mrawu took 5 wickets for 24 runs in 7 overs,” said Mukoki.

Concluding that that allowed Midrand Cricket Club to sit 12 points clear off the second-placed Geluksdal Cricket Club heading in the past week’s fixtures.
