Rabie Ridge police search for hijack suspects

Rabie Ridge police hunt for two men who hijacked the victim's sister's Mazda 3 when he was ambushed while trying to close the gate.

Rabie Ridge police are looking for two suspects who hijacked a Mazda 3 hatchback in Klipfontein, Midrand.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, on August 5 around 23:40, the complainant was closing the gate at his residential place on OR Tambo Street.

His sister’s car was still idling when two African males pounced on him.

“One suspect pointed a firearm at him before kicking and assaulting him until he fell down while the other one got inside the car and reversed to exit the yard. The one with a gun then closed and locked the gate because the padlock was still open.”

The car is a Mazda 3 2016 model hatchback and dark grey in colour.

Moremi said the car belongs to the victim’s sister and is valued at R 150 000.

The suspects were covering their faces and the victim could not see them for identification purposes.

“All role players were informed and no shots were fired.”

Moremi urged and appealed to community members who might have information that may lead to the arrest of the duo and recovery of the vehicle to come forward.
