Midrand SPCA visit the coal yard horses again
The month of September will see the team focusing on sterilising some of the dogs roaming the yard.
Midrand SPCA continues to keep an eye on its coal yards project.
A dedicated team of farriers under the leadership of Deon Boardman and Anthony Ward continues to join the SPCA’s inspectors on joint visits to the coal yard horses in Tembisa.
During their last visit, the team returned with a horse with an abscess on its hoof, a metal plate lodged in the other hoof and a puppy which are both being taken care of.
The team tended to about 20 horses and they are hoping to receive the newly designed harnesses soon so that they can get these animals into these.
“During September, we will also start to focus on the sterilisation of some of the dogs that are roaming the yards,” said the SPCA in a statement.
The SPCA thanked Daryl Gershow of Western Shoppe and Mandy Jarm of The Farrier Shop for providing the shoes for the horses.
