Vorna Valley Senior Citizens celebrate four years, calls for more members to join

The Vorna Valley Senior Citizen Club invite elderly people from Midrand and surrounding areas, who are 55 years and older, to join the club and start enjoying their time together.

Vorna Valley Senior Citizen Club members held a Sunday lunch at the Halfway Gardens Primary School to celebrate the club’s four years of existence.

The club was established in 2018 and its objective is to promote fellowship, health and welfare of its members.

The club’s treasurer Kay Naidoo said, “Elderly members in the Midrand and surrounding areas who are 55 years old and above are eligible to join our club. Our venue is Halfway House Primary School and we meet from 14:00 to17:00 every Sunday,” said Naidoo.

The chairperson Dhana Achary said the club seeks to provide social and recreational activities for its members and organises various outdoor excursions.

“With limited resources, we provide snacks and tea on Sunday afternoons when we meet. We have a catering team in charge of making sure that there is food after a long day of catching up,” said Achary
The club’s oldest member Sally Chetty will be turning 80 in December.
