Department of Water and Sanitation host Ministerial Imbizo for its employees

As part of Public Service Month, public servants are expected to roll up their sleeves and spring-clean their service delivery point.

The Department of Water and Sanitation hosted a Ministerial Imbizo (a gathering to share knowledge) with its employees on September 23 at the Gallagher Convention Centre.

This gathering was part of Public Service Month, which serves as a reminder of what it means to serve communities and to also look at the impact the government has, especially on issues related to service delivery.

Addressing employees in attendance, Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu implored officials to roll up their sleeves and recommit to the Batho Pele [people first] principles which are meant to enhance the quality and accessibility of services, as should be provided by the department.

Staff members from the Department of Water and Sanitation dressed in their beautiful traditional regalia pledged their support to improve service delivery.

“You must remember why you are here. As a public servant, your priority and loyalty are to the public. Not your friends or family members,” said Mchunu.

Dressed in their beautiful traditional regalia, staff members pledged their support to the department to enable it to improve and enhance the delivery of water and sanitation services.

As part of Public Service Month, public servants are expected to roll up their sleeves and spring-clean their service delivery points – unblock the bottlenecks and red tape in the delivery of services as well as recommit themselves to belonging, caring, and serving the people, amongst others.
