Ward 132 members to donate books to hospitals to give patients hope
EFF Ward 132 members said they want to bring changes in public hospitals.
EFF members held a book donation event on March 20 at Shaguma Garden Café. This was a brunch session with EFF members and the community of Ward 132.
Community members came in numbers to donate books to children with chronic illnesses, living in public hospitals as their focus is on children with pediatric cancer.
They said they choose children patients to follow their slogan of ‘Children you are our heroes’.

Millicent Kgeledi, EFF 132 member said they collected cancer-related books, and children’s books that speak about hope and courage, this is to bring hope to cancer patients and show them they are not alone.
“We might not be able to help them medically, but we saw a need to bring hope through books,” Kgeledi said.
Books collected during the brunch session were about heroes who survived chronic illnesses, people who survived hardships in life and they want to show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

EFF ward 132 members said they choose public hospitals, and they know children who have been hospitalised for a long while waiting for treatment.
Kgeledi said they are doing this to honour Chris Hani Baragwanath Paediatrics Ward 42 patient, as they saw a gap in how patients are treated in public hospitals.
Academic and Professional Staff Association (APSA) donated a bookshelf, and they hope to do the handover as soon as possible, so they can focus on doing other hope programmes.
