Wellness Day by Uthando Foundation held in President Park

Foundation CEO Nthopo Petlane said the aim was to encourage healthy living and educate the community on health topics that they are scared to ask and speak about.

Uthando Foundation hosted a Wellness Day where health issues were tackled.

This was held on May 20 in Glen Austin AH where about 80 people attended.

Dermatologist Dr Avela Mayekiso gave the participants skin health tips and urged them to always strive for a healthy lifestyle.
“We all want to glow and look beautiful but it is important to look after your skin and observe how it reacts to the products you use. Most important, not everything is for everyone. If you get a rash after using a certain product, then that product is not for you,” advised Mayekiso. Trainer, Lizwe Khumalo then put the participants through their paces.

“Cansa also educated about all types of cancers and treatments. We are excited about this as more people understand the importance of routine checks such as pap smears, mammograms and prostate tests,” added Petlane.

She said the South African National Blood Services was also there to encourage people to donate blood.
“We hope that this event increased the visibility of who we are. We also assist homes with food parcels and educational programmes such as differently abled awareness.
“Our mission is to bring care, love and support to our communities through impactful initiatives to promote and nurture the social well-being of our communities.”
