Pan-African Parliament men’s Caucus presents its report to Plenary
It also focused on protecting women's and girls' rights in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
The vice-president of the Women’s Caucus, Victoria Kingstone, recently shared with the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) Plenary, a report on the three main activities the group has undertaken since November last year.
The report also included recommendations that the Plenary is yet to adopt. The first matter for adoption was International Women’s Day on March 8.
The Caucus celebrated, along with the rest of the world, Women’s Day under the theme ‘For an Inclusive Digital World: Innovation and Technologies or Gender Equality’.
“The Caucus recognises and celebrates women and girls who champion transformative technology and digital education,” said Kingstone.

It has also focused on the importance of protecting women’s and girls’ rights in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
The second matter Kingstone presented for adoption by the Plenary was the recommendations following the parliament’s participation in the 67th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
At this event, parliamentarians gave the parliament delegation an opportunity to raise visibility on the work it does on gender-related issues while also promoting parliament’s agenda among the CSW forum.
“The delegation has since made recommendations to design and implement law, policy, administrative, and practical measures to address existing structural inequalities in income, education, and employment opportunities, and remove political, economic, legal, cultural, technological barriers that prevent women and girls from accessing and using the internet and ICTs,” said Kingstone.
“Moreover, actively include women and gender equality experts in policymaking, regulatory and governance processes to ensure fairer digital and data outcomes.”
Lastly, the Caucus presented a draft resolution on the current war in Sudan and its effects on women and children.
