MLFA offices re-opened after festive recess, teams can register new acquisitions

Chairperson of the Midrand Local Football Association Sthembiso Buthelezi is looking forward to a prosperous 2024.

Following the closure of the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA) offices for the festive recess, the chairperson has confirmed they have resumed for the start of the second round of the league.

Sthembiso Buthelezi, the MLFA chairperson, said they opened offices on January 8, and will be ready to serve all the teams in various MLFA streams.

After taking a much-needed break, teams will now be making a return for the second league of the season. Buthelezi said if the teams are looking to register new players in a bid to bolster their squads, this will be the time to do so and the first fixtures will kick off on January 13.

“Last year, we had a successful season from our development leagues and senior league and all our streams. Ivory Park, KAE, Rabie Ridge and Mayibuye streams did well. We are looking forward to yet another successful year this year as we start the season on a positive note. We also urge teams looking to register new players to come forward and complete the required paperwork to ensure players get LFA playing cards,” said Buthelezi.

He added that some of the challenges they faced last year were a testament to their resilience as an organisation to work even harder.
“The 2023 season had many lessons and moments that were good and bad. However, we take the good lessons learned and move forward with them into the new year. We also hope to learn from the bad memories that we encountered along the way.”

The second leg of the season means this is the last chance for teams to finish in a reputable position.
On behalf of Midrand LFA Buthelezi wishes all a prosperous new year filled with ample opportunities and may the best team win the league this year.

Last year, the Neasm Academy of Sports clinched the MLFA crown.
