Midrand Sector 1 Crime Forum public meeting invitation

The must-attend public meeting is scheduled for 14:00 on March 9 at President Park’s Bikers Church.

The Midrand Sector 1 Crime Forum chairperson invites residents to an important public meeting – the first one of the year.

Jonathan ‘Jo’ Burrows said the aim of the meeting is to talk to residents about crime, inform them about sector duties and how they can help fight crime.

Some of the areas included in Sector 1 are President Park, Glen Austin, Austin View, Randjesfontein, Randjespark and a portion of Halfway House.
The meeting is scheduled for March 9 at President Park’s Bikers Church from 14:00.

Burrows described the meeting is a ‘must-attend’ as it will also talk to residents about channels to follow when reporting crime in the area.
“This is the first public meeting of the year, and it is absolutely vital that the Sector 1 residents come in their numbers. Residents will be provided with crime stats as well as latest crime trends to help them deal with crime. Residents will also be provided with critical numbers to use in order to report crime.”

He said residents play a crucial role in fighting crime, by being the eyes and ears of authorities on the ground. “Reporting crime to SAPS or us will help highlight problematic areas within our sector, which needs attention. And if not reported to either SAPS or us, then we are not aware of it and how much of a problem it is. Without information, SAPS do not know where the problem areas are and therefore we cannot police the hotspots.”
