Tebogo Motlogelwa speaks about Joburg City projects in Wards 80 and 110
Joburg City has some development projects coming in Ward 80 and 110

Tebogo Motlogelwa, the Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (Crum) deputy director for planning, profiling, and data management, has provided an update on the progress of various projects currently underway in wards 80 and 110.
These projects have been approved by the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) budget and are being overseen by entities such as Pikitup, Joburg Road Agency (JRA), Joburg Water, Joburg Development Agency (JDA), and City Power.
Pikitup’s Midrand Depot project, which includes the construction of new offices, male and female ablution facilities, a heavy-duty parking area, a 450-seater hall, and renovation of existing buildings, with an approved budget of R105 million.
The project is currently at the planning stage, with plans to take it to tender in January this year, pending budget adjustment. It is expected to go on tender in March this year.

“JRA is currently resurfacing roads in Region A projects with a budget of R30 million. Additionally, JRA is working on completing the Bulelwa Makomane project, which has a budget of R11 million and is currently 52% completed,” he explained.
“Joburg Water’s President Park Satellite Depot project, which had a budget of R12 million, has been completed. Furthermore, I would like to announce that the non-payments of three small, medium, and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) have been paid.”
Joburg Water’s Halfway House water upgrade project, which will include wards 110, 132, and 32 in Region E, has not yet started. The project is expected to require a budget of R130 million.
JDA has completed the Rabie Ridge Community Hall and Library repairs and maintenance project for R5.63 million. The project was handed over to user departments and the community in February this year.
“The normalisation of electricity in Mayibuye has been completed, except for a street where residents have put a padlock on the electric box. Meanwhile, the electricity normalisation project in Rabie Ridge Ext 1 and 2 has not started yet, but stakeholder engagement is underway.
“As for Rabie Ridge Ext 4 and 5, the electricity normalisation project has not started yet, and these areas will require a huge budget because the project commenced in 2010 and we are still engaging with stakeholders.”
The installation of solar high mast lights in both wards is underway with two each installed in the areas.
