Service delivery accelerates service delivery in wards 80 and 110

Service delivery issues accelerated in wards 80 and 110 by Joburg City.

Wards 80 and 110 councillors Melody Hlatswayo and Angie Mphaho respectively took advantage of the weekly executive mayor Accelerated Service Delivery campaign to address all the service delivery issues in their wards.

The campaign, aimed at amplifying the city’s efforts for improved service delivery and enhanced coordination at regional levels, made its way to Region A from March 4–8 focusing on wards 80 and 110.

Day one and two saw entities such as Joburg Water, City Power, and Joburg Roads Agency accelerating the service delivery issues in the wards.

Day three was the highlight of the campaign, where representatives of city departments and entities met for a briefing to discuss the processes of the campaign and the work done so far. Noticeable absentees were Pikitup and JCPZ.

Also in attendance were the Acting Executive Mayor Loyiso Masuku, MMC for Development Planning Eunice Mgcina and the councillors.The councillors expressed their concerns regarding uncompleted city projects and incomplete service delivery.

“We must always prioritise accelerated service delivery as an essential component, regardless of whether the MMCs are present or not,” said Masuka.
“Unfortunately, I am disappointed that Pikitup and JCPZ are not here. We will inquire why their teams are absent. This is a mayoral programme, and even though politicians are not present, it does not mean that the programme is not important.

“I will also send this to the city manager who needs to address this problem. Our goal is to serve our communities and support our ward councillors in their efforts.

“Accelerated service delivery is not about who is coming, but about coordination for CRUM, to ensure that we provide service delivery and support the ward councillors who are facing the brunt of poor service delivery.”
