Dada Morero elected mayor of Johannesburg
The Johannesburg City Council has reinstated Dada Morero to serve as the executive mayor of Joburg.
Dada Morero has been officially elected as Johannesburg’s new executive mayor, following the resignation of Al Jama-ah’s Kabelo Gwamanda on August 13.
The election took place during the 30th extraordinary council meeting on August 16, held at the Constance Bapela Council Chamber in Braamfontein.

In addition to his new role, Morero serves as the MMC for Finance in the City and chairs the ANC’s regional branch in Joburg. His previous term as mayor in 2022 was cut short after just 25 days in office.
