Midrand High School dominates the High School Goal Fest soccer tournament

Midrand High School successfully claimed two out of the three trophies on offer.

Midrand High School exhibited prowess at the Curro High School Goal Fest soccer tournament at Curro Waterfall on September 7.

This tournament featured three competitive divisions – U15 boys, U19 girls, and U19 boys.

Numerous schools participated including the hosts Curro Waterfall, Curro Thatchfield, Reddam House Helderfontein, Midrand High School, Reddam House Waterfall, Curro Rivonia, and Future Nations School, showcasing a variety of talent across the age groups.

Midrand High School celebrated an achievement by claiming two out of the three available trophies.

The U15 boys’ team demonstrated their skill and determination by defeating Curro Thatchfield with a solid score of 2–0 in the finals, while the U19 girls’ team showed their abilities by narrowly overcoming Curro Waterfall in a tense match that ended 1–0.

The U19 boys began strong by winning their first match against Reddam House Waterfall but the competition became fierce with Curro Rivonia and Curro Thatchfield U19 boys beating them.

The Midrand U15s were impressive, not conceding a single goal throughout the tournament.
Their offensive prowess was on display as they dominated Future Nations with a staggering score of 8–0, triumphed over Curro Waterfall 3–0, and overcame Curro Rivonia 2–0.

Their only draw came against Curro Thatchfield but they later met again in the final where the Midrand U15 boys reasserted their dominance with a decisive 2–0 victory.

The U19 girls’ team also did not concede any goals, drawing both games 0–0 against Curro Waterfall and Reddam House Helderfontein.
They secured victories over Reddam House Waterfall with a commanding score of 3–0 and beat Curro Thatchfield 2–0, thus earning their place in the final in which they triumphed 1–0 over Curro Waterfall.

The head of sports at Midrand High Arthur Joshua expressed immense pride regarding the outcomes of the weekend’s tournament.

“We have been working very hard and it is truly gratifying to see that our efforts are paying off, as these learners are achieving remarkable results in their games,” he concluded.
