Plane crash in Glen Austin, leaves 1 critically injured
One critically injured as a plane crashes in Midrand. A second passenger sustained minor injuries.
Midrand Reporter has received reports of a plane crash in Glen Austin.
The crash is believed to have happened on Donovan Road today, November 21.

It is believed that one of the two occupants of the plane was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. The other sustained minor injuries.
The Accident and Incident Investigations Division (AIID) can confirm a light aircract accident that occurred at the Grand Central Airport, Midrand, on Thursday 21 November 2024.
The aircraft (Cessna 172) carried two personnel onboard – an instructor and a student pilot.
The AIID is still gathering information that will form part of the preliminary report that will be issued 30 days from the day of this accident.
Danny Muduray, of Ria Sebetsa Security Services, confirmed the crash.
“Yes, a plane crash occurred in Glen Austin on Donovan Road [today],” said Maduray.
Glen Austin Residents Association chairperson John Mphatsoe confirmed the incident to the paper.
“It’s a small plane that carries two occupants. It crashed behind [Grand Central] Airport. One occupant was rushed to the hospital,” said Mphatsoe.
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) communications manager, Sisa Majola, was contacted for a comment.

He said he was going to find out and revert as soon as he had information.
Sector 1 Crime Forum chairperson Jonathan ‘Joe’ Burrows also confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it did happen. The best is to contact Grand Central for an update,” concluded Burrows.
